CHETOPA — Linda S. Gilliland, 57, of Chetopa died at 12:43 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, in the Labette Health emergency room.

She was born July 30, 1952, in Picher, Okla., to Forrest Russell Evans Sr. and Juanita Mae (Watson) Evans. She attended Columbus schools and Coffeyville Community College and graduated from the nursing program at Labette Community College in Parsons.

Through the years, she worked as a registered nurse at Coffeyville Medicalodge, Coffeyville Regional Medical Center and Chetopa Manor.

She married Lael D. Gilliland Sr. on Nov. 7, 1968, at Fort Campbell, Ky. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael Gilliland and Lael Gilliland Jr., both of Chetopa; a daughter, Marsha Taylor of Parsons; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four brothers, Richard Wayne Evans of Bartlett, Forrest Russell Evans Jr. of Elkton, Ky., Charles Thomas Lawson of Oswego and William Stanley Evans of Hockerville, Okla.; and six sisters, Tina Lynn Johnson of Welch, Okla., Shirley Gailene Akers of Neosho, Mo., Anna Marie Wilson of Welch, Okla., Lenore Charlene Davis of Oswego, Holly Louise Erwin of Chetopa and Tresea Jo Rhodes of Little Rock, Ark.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of God in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call at their convenience from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
