He was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., to Clifford E. and Margaret Helen (Gross) Jones. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons. He would have graduated with the Parsons High School Class of 1942 but quit school to enlist in the U.S. Army Air Corps in December 1941 immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in Australia and New Guinea.
For 51 years, he lived in Tacoma, Wash., before returning to Parsons. He was employed under civil service as an aircraft mechanic.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Parsons. He enjoyed animals, especially dogs. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 527 and was a life member of Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His wife, Caroline, preceded him in death in 1969. Two sons preceded him in death.
Survivors include two stepsons, Frederick Carron and Marc Carron, both of Washington state; and good friends Nancy Woodward and Ron Little of Parsons.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery patio. Veterans honors will be given by V.F.W. Post 704. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Friends may call at Carson-Wall Funeral Home after noon today.
