BLUE MOUND — Dale S. Miller, 94, of Blue Mound died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Parsons.

He was born Nov. 26, 1915, at Saffordville the son of Pete Searl and Floretta Alvena “Winnie” (Nurnburg) Miller. He grew up in western Lyon County, attending country schools before graduating from high school at Miller. Following school he farmed and owned a dairy near Emporia.

He married Mary Annabelle Troutman on Sept. 30, 1937, at Topeka. This marriage was blessed with one son, Richard.

In 1959, he moved to the Blue Mound area where he farmed and raised cattle as the owner of Lost Creek Angus. He and his companion, Kathy McMurray, had one daughter, Ashley. Mr. Miller enjoyed his garden, fishing, dinner at the cabin and his antique tractors. However, his work was his greatest passion.

Survivors include a son, Richard D. Miller and his wife, Peggy, of Stanley; a daughter, Ashley Clark and her husband, Jesse, of Parsons; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Dodds Miller of Topeka; and three sisters, Alivena Patterson of Hayesville, Ilean Smith of Wichita and Ruth McMurtray of Farmsville, Va.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Leslie and Gene Miller; four sisters, Melissa Dickson, Sadie Miller, Elda Crim and Virginia Jordan; and his wife, Annabelle Miller.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 344 N. Cedar, in Moran, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Miller will be cremated following the visitation and private family services will be held.
