OSWEGO — Charles “Chuck” Lyle Fouts, 54, of Oswego was called home to be with his heavenly father at 8:37 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Labette Health. His death was not expected.

He was born Feb. 12, 1956, at Rockford, Ill., a son of Charles Lyle and Evelyn May (Proper) Fouts. At an early age, his family moved to Denton, Texas, and he was raised and attended school there. He was a truck driver and lived in various communities before moving to Oswego in 2008.

On Oct. 16, 1998, he married Sherry Crays at Rogers, Ark. She survives of the home.

Mr. Fouts was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His life was his family; there was nothing more important to him. He loved to laugh, read and will be remembered for all the love and time he gave to them. He will be greatly missed.

Other survivors include three sons, Tony Fouts and his wife, Kim, of Virden, Ill., Charles “C.J.” Fouts Jr. and Shanon of Galesburg and Jeremiah Fouts of Parsons; four daughters, Angie Mendoza and her husband, Matt, Brandy Fouts and her companion, Jason, Terri Ellis and her husband, David, all of Parsons, and Molly Fouts of Nashville, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, Tyler Fouts, Joey Mendoza, Jesse Mendoza, all of Oswego, Zane Ellis, Jasmyn Ellis, Jermyn Schroeder, Kynzy Ellis, Bella Schroeder, Noah Schroeder, Malaia Ellis and Jakob Goodwin, all of Parsons, Ashley Peck, Madysyn Fouts, both of Virden, Ill., and Charles Wayne Fouts of Texas; his mother, Evelyn Proper of Tahlequah, Okla.; his stepmother, Nancy Fouts of Harrison, Mo.; two brothers, Terry Fouts of Manhattan and Tom Fouts of Tahlequah, Okla.; and two sisters, Tammy Tanksley of Irving, Ill., and Cindy Dallas of Tahlequah, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Fouts; a daughter, Colleen Fouts; and a sister, Sandra Lee Fouts.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with president Stephen Richins officiating. The committal service and burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Virden Cemetery in Virden, Ill. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
