She was born July 27, 1960, to John Whetzel and Donna (Atteberry) Whetzel in Parsons. The family moved to Houston in 1966 and, in later years, her mother built a home on a hill near Lockhart, Texas. Coral lived there with her mother for the past several years, getting to know her Piney Lane neighbors and enjoying “country life.”
Coral was a sweet, child-like person. She loved all animals and would have taken in every stray if she could. Mostly, Coral loved her family, especially her nieces and nephew for whom she babysat endlessly when they were young. Coral was much loved and will be terribly missed by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sisters, Claire Johnson and Christi Williams; and many other relatives in Kansas and Texas; as well as Dr. Linley Watson, his wife, Jan, and their daughter, Anji, who was Coral’s best and dearest friend in life.
The memorial service was on March 14 in Lockhart, Texas.
Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. The final resting place is Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons.
