PITTSBURG — Marie Kennett, 93, of Pittsburg died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

She was born Sept. 10, 1916, in Pittsburg to Walter and Ethel (Jones) Thomas. She grew up and attended school in Pittsburg.

She married Earl Kennett on July 8, 1935, in Pittsburg. Following marriage, they lived in Pittsburg, where she worked as a cook in various nursing homes in the area.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Kennett and his wife, Sally, of Salida, Colo., Danny Kennett and his wife, Vickie, of Emporia and Gary Kennett and his wife, Carolyn, of Parsons; five grandchildren, Caroline Johnson and her husband, Michael, of Kansas City, Kan., Tyler Kennett and his wife, Halee, of Parsons, Joe Bryson of New York, Kristi Kennett of Emporia and Michael Kennett of Topeka; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Swartz of Pittsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Kennett, on Oct. 6, 1997; a brother; and four sisters.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons to sign the register.
