CHANUTE — Margaret L. Tredway, 94, of Chanute, and a former resident of Parsons and Erie, died at 2:04 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Heritage Health Care in Chanute.

She was born Aug. 24, 1915, in rural Erie to Robert H. and Elsie (Moffitt) Coover. She attended area schools and graduated from the Erie High School.

On May 20, 1934, she married Roy T. Tredway in Kimball. They lived on a farm near Kimball until 1941, when they moved to the rural Parsons area. In 1971 they moved to Erie. Mr. Tredway preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1988. Mrs. Tredway continued living in Erie until late in 2005, when she moved to Chanute.

Mrs. Tredway was a member of the Erie Federated Church. She especially enjoyed embroidering, gardening and reading.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Stover and her husband, Pat, of Parsons and Rita Davis and her husband, Merle, of Chanute; a daughter-in-law, Lois Tredway of Parsons; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen Coover of Erie; and a sister, Mary Smith of Chanute.

She was preceded in death by three sons, infant James Clayton Tredway in 1937, Dean Tredway in 1973 and Roy Tredway Jr. in 1983; a great-grandson; a brother, Paul Coover; and a sister, Edna Redfield.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Erie Federated Church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, northeast of Erie. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
