CARROLLTON, Mo. — Helen Margaret Tietjens Owen, 90, of rural Carrollton, Mo., died Wednesday, June 2, 2010.

She was born Nov. 2, 1919, to Elbert and Effie (Fordham) Tietjens in Sugar Tree Township, Carroll County, Mo. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1937.

She married Jack Owen on Jan. 1, 1941 in the Baptist parsonage in Carrollton.

Survivors include her husband, Jack, of the home; three daughters, June Newman of Carrollton, Kay Wood of Norborne and Jeanne Holmes of Union, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Ruth Owen of Carrollton; sons-in-law Willard Wood of Norborne and Tony Holmes of Union, formerly of Parsons and Altamont areas; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Heins; a son, Weldon; a son-in-law; and a grandson.

A memorial service was June 8 at First Baptist Church in Norborne, Mo.

Memorial contributions were to HELP Services Cancer Fund of Carrollton or the American Cancer Society.

Hearthland Crematorium was in charge of the cremation.
