ROGERSVILLE, Mo. — Helen Patricia (DeVenezia) Domeny, 86, of Rogersville, Mo., died Monday, June 14, 2010.

She was born Sept. 17, 1923 in Newark, N.J., to Nicola and Marie (Saporito) DeVenezia. After graduating from Irvington High School, Irvington, N.J., in 1939 and Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, N.J., in 1943, she began a teaching career that lasted more than 30 years.

She married John Harold Domeny, whose family (Otis Domeny) had lived in Parsons, on July 19, 1953, in Maplewood, N.J., after they had met while working in Venezuela. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Wefler of Springfield, Mo., and Kathy McConnell of Rogersville, Mo., and Judy Domeny Bowen of Rogersville, Mo., and Martha Atkinson of Shawnee; a son, Any Domeny of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and her siblings, Marie DeVenezia, Irma Conforti, Dick DeVenezia and Eddie DeVenezia, all of New Jersey.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Schweitzer United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Sunshine, Springfield, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tenn., 38148, or St. John’s Hospice.

The Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St., Springfield, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
