WINFIELD — John Joseph Kelly Jr., 73, of Winfield died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at his residence.

He was born March 13, 1937, in Wichita to John J. and Grace M. (Holman) Kelly.

He married Wilberta “Billie” Peters on March 1, 1957, in Miami, Okla.

He worked as an inspector and parts handler at the G.E. Jet Engine Maintenance Facility at Strother Field for 27 years, retiring in 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Billie, of the home; two sons, John Kelly III of Haysville and Wilbert Kelly of Honeywell; two daughters, Vicki Athearn of Winfield and Sandy Peters of South Haven; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Kelly of Arkansas City; and three sisters, Mary Bay of Arkansas City, Nancy Harth of Arkansas City and Pat Cole of Mullin, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dave Kelly.

The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Geuda Springs Cemetery.

Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to a scholarship fund for his grandchildren and can be left at the funeral home.
