Ronald D. “Ron” Blake, 54, of Parsons was pronounced dead on Sunday afternoon, June 27, 2010, at his home. His death was unexpected.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1955, at Parsons to Robert F. and Lois L. (McMillan) Blake. He grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1973. He worked at C&M Motors in Independence for many years as a mechanic.

He was baptized at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Parsons. He was member of the Parsons Elks Lodge No. 527 in Parsons.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and getting together with his friends. He also enjoyed attending stock car races.

Survivors include two sons, Alex Blake and his companion, Norma Davis, and Austin Blake, all of Parsons; his companion, Donna Krokstrom of Parsons; a brother, Tim Blake of Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Patty Stewart and her husband, John, of Warrensburg, Mo., and Sandy Ellis and her husband, Kris, of Parsons; four nephews, Chris Hastings, Bob Hastings, Drew Ellis and Tony Stewart; two great-nieces, Brittany and Amber Hastings; and three great-nephews, Patrick Hastings, Tyler Hastings and Landyn Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made in Ron’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
