McCUNE — Margaret A. Brintnall, 87, a longtime McCune area resident, was pronounced dead at her home Saturday afternoon, July 24, 2010. She had been in her usual health, but her death was unexpected.

She was born on May 9, 1923, at the family farm north of McCune to Barton and Ella Mae (Samp) Parsons. She grew up on the family farm and attended country schools and McCune High School. She graduated in 1941 and moved to Pittsburg, where she attended Kansas State Teacher’s College, now Pittsburg State University.

She taught for a few years at country and Arma schools.

She moved to the Joplin area, where she married Thomas Lee Edward Nunn on Dec. 7, 1945. They later divorced.

She married Elmer Brintnall in August 1974. He preceded her in death.

She moved back to the McCune area, where she was a homemaker and worked at Montgomery Ward for 30 years as a parts clerk until she retired.

She was a member of United Chapel Church at rural McCune. She loved to read and traveled extensively with her husband in her retirement years.

Survivors include her son, Richard Nunn, and his companion, Billye Turner, of Columbus; her daughter, Susan Thomas, and her husband, Francis, of Girard; her stepson, Allen Brintnall of Joplin; her stepdaughter, Juanita Shepard of Girard; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.

The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McCune Cemetery. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. The casket will remain closed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Salvation Army and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
