She was born March 8, 1942, in Battle Creek, Mich., to Stuart Brown and Mildred Sundberg Brown. She moved to Austin, Texas, as a child and lived there until 1959, when she moved to Norman, Okla. She graduated from Norman High School in 1960.
She married Frank W. Blakely on June 12, 1964, in Norman, Okla.
She received her bachelor of science in education degree from Kansas State University in 1973 and a master of science degree from K-State in 1976. She moved to Tahlequah in 1979 and continued her education, receiving a bachelor of science in education degree from Pittsburg State University in 1981.
She was national board certified as a counselor in 1984. She worked as an elementary school physical education teacher in Parsons and also served as the medical director at the Jess Dunn Correctional Center in Taft, Okla., for 21 years. She retired in 2001.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Parsons and First Presbyterian Church in Tahlequah. She was president of the Presbyterian Women. An avid sports fan, she also enjoyed counted cross stitch, reading and being outdoors.
Survivors include two daughters, Whitney Scott and her husband, Donald, of Tampa, Fla., and Kim Ryals and her husband, James, of Tulsa; a son, Jon Marc Blakely and his wife, Gayla, of Tahlequah; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea, Brock, Morgan, Branden, Morgaine, Lindsey, Lauren, Serena, Rebekah and Melanie; a sister, Valerie Schorzman of Idaho; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank W. Blakely; and a son, Michael Blakely.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Tahlequah, with the Rev. Jan Condren presiding. Hart Funeral Home, Tahlequah, is in charge of arrangements.
