Cemetery headstones damaged
Vandals damaged about 30 headstones in Star Cemetery, 6724 N.W. 70th Road, McCune, according to the West Mineral City Clerk’s office.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the damage. The cemetery is west of Big Brutus and maintained by the city of West Mineral.

There is a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Donations for the repairs can be sent to the West Mineral City Clerk’s Office, 412 Richard Ave., P.O. Box 120, West Mineral, 66782. Write Star Cemetery in the memo line. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, to begin restoring headstones.
