Police arrest robbery suspects

On Tuesday, Parsons police arrested an adult and two juveniles for the Dec. 12 robbery of a convenience store employee.

A release from Parsons police said detectives acted on tips from the public and surveillance footage to identify the adult alleged to have committed the robbery.

Detectives interviewed the suspects and collected evidence that linked them to the robbery.

One of the three suspects was identified as Warren Lane Jungles, 18, of Par-

sons. The other two suspects are juveniles. Jungles was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery and contributing to a child;’s misconduct. The two juveniles were arrested and transported to Southeast Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center. They are both facing juvenile charges of aggravated robbery.

The robbery occurred at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Pete’s at 15th and Main.

According to the initial reports, two persons entered the store and engaged the clerk under the guise of conducting business. The situation escalated when the suspects attacked the clerk after he followed them outside of the store. The suspects punched the clerk, causing physical injuries, and forcibly took the clerk’s phone before fleeing.

Lt. Detective Sherri McGuire said, “I am impressed with the way Detectives Adamson and Gilliland took this case and ran with it. Given the limited information that was available from the start, they were able to develop leads and gather information with the help of the community to make significant arrests. This is not some low-level crime that took place; it is a serious felony crime. We are lucky that the victim had minor injuries and that the crime didn’t escalate any further.”

Chief Robert Spinks was also pleased with the detectives’ work.

“I am proud that the community embodies the see it, hear it, report it mentality when it comes to safeguarding our city from criminals. This partnership with the community shows that there is support for our local law enforcement at every level. We are showing criminals that the community wants accountability for the crimes they commit,” he said in the release.

The investigation continues. If anyone has any further information on this incident or any other criminal activity, please contact the Parsons Police Department at 421-7060, call the Tip Line at 421-7057 or email tips@parsonspdks. gov.
