Pittsburg teen dies in vehicle crash

PITTSBURG — A Pittsburg teenager died late Monday afternoon at the scene of a one-vehicle accident.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the accident happened at 5:45 p.m. Monday on South Rouse Street about one-half of a mile south of K-126. The accident happened 180 feet north of Adams Street, the KHP said.

A Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Nathan Brown, 17, Pittsburg, was northbound on Rouse when, for an unknown reason, the Santa Fe left the road to the left and struck a tree. Pittsburg police said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown was wearing his seat belt, the KHP report said.

His body was taken to Kansas City, Kansas, for an autopsy.
