One man is on diversion and another still faces criminal charges in a case that resulted from a search of a former business, Hashtag#2, 2911 Main.
Law enforcement officers and the Kansas Department of Revenue agents searched the business and two Parsons residences on Oct. 27, 2023. Officers seized 8.7 pounds of marijuana, four ounces of methamphetamine and two grams of suspected fentanyl. Officers also seized $18,670 in cash. Dorian L. Allen, 1538 S. 25th, and Desiray Allen, 2501 Washington, were arrested.
They are charged in Labette County District Court with the distribution of marijuana, a level three felony, and distribution of drug paraphernalia, a lower-level felony. A tax warrant filed by the Department of Revenue in 2023 sought payment of $47,189 for unpaid taxes on the marijuana and controlled substances.
Hashtag first opened in downtown Parsons. It expanded to 2911 Main, the former Taco Tico building, in late 2020.
Hashtag# 2 carried smoke shop items that previously were in the original store, and Allen also expanded on those offerings. The shop also sold pipe tobacco and cigars. The new store carried more CDB products such as suckers, gummy bears, chocolate and even bath bombs, according to a Sun story in 2020.
Dorian Allen’s case remains pending. He will return to court on Jan. 13.
Desiray Allen is on diversion for two years, an agreement was filed in November, for distribution of drug paraphernalia, a felony. He paid a $2,000 fee for diversion, plus court costs. He agreed to forfeit money to law enforcement, random drug testing and to attend 12 hours of courses on marijuana education within 90 days of signing the agreement. He also must complete 40 hours of community service.
If he completes all aspects of the diversion, the charge will be dismissed after the diversion.
