William J. ‘Willie’ Henninger

CHERRYVALE — William J. “Willie” Henninger, 71, of rural Cherryvale passed away at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at Labette Health Emergency Room. His death was unexpected.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1953, in Wichita to Harry and Thelma (Julian) Henninger.

Willie graduated from Oskaloosa High School in Oskaloosa. He worked for Kaw Motors in Lawrence as the foreman of the salvage yard. In 1993, he moved to Parsons and worked for Superior Wheels in Pittsburg for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and gardening. Willie cut wood for several years for deer camp and his friends. He also helped with mowing yards and doing odd jobs.

He married Donna J. Gillespie on Oct. 13, 1981, in Oskaloosa. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Mary L. Hammond, Jerry Carver, Wayne Carver, Crystal Williams, Angie Riley and Bambi Dome; his sister, Elizabeth Henninger; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Henninger and Charles Carver; and a son-in-law, Zachary Williams.

No service is planned at this time. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests memorials to help with expenses and may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
