At the library

Below are the events for next week at the Parsons Public Library.

MONDAY: 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 6 p.m., paint and sip; lemonade served.

TUESDAY: 10 a.m., sensory hour for ages birth to 3; 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18; 6 p.m., library board meeting.

THURSDAY: 1 p.m., coloring group for adults and teens; 4 p.m., Minecraft Club for teens.

FRIDAY, Jan. 17: 3 p.m., adult bingo for ages 18 and up; 4 p.m., Switch freeplay for teens.

Rotary chili feed is Feb. 8

The Parsons Rotary Club will have its annual chili feed fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Parsons Municipal Building basement. Patrons are welcome to dine in or carry out meals. The club is also accepting pre-orders for those planning a Super Bowl party. Email [email protected].

Jones takes Extension job

Shyanne Jones began serving as a Wildcat District 4-H youth development Extension agent Monday.

The Wildcat District has offices in Altamont, Fredonia, Independence and Girard. Jones’ primary office is in Altamont.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Kansas State University. She has most recently been employed as a 4-H youth development Extension agent for K-State Research and Extension in McPherson.

4-H youth development agents develop and deliver educational programs for school-aged youth. This includes supporting community clubs, out-of-school programs, school enrichment, volunteer management and outreach to create new program opportunities with new and existing community partners.

Webinar for lamb management

A lambing and kidding webinar will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, on Zoom. It will focus on managing does/ewes in late gestation, having supplies on hand, knowing when to assist during delivery and caring for newborn lambs/kids. Parsons Livestock Auction

On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 1,723 cattle.

Choice cows 122-138, canners-cutters 115-122, shelly cows 114 and down, bred cows up to $2,700; choice bulls 160-184, lower grades 159 and down.

Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 330-437; 400-500, 270-401; 500600, 280-354; 600-700, 248-323; 700-800, 235-289; 800 and over, 225-269.50.

Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 225-391; 400-500, 245-333; 500600, 255-306.50; 600-700, 239-290; 700-800, 230-262; 800 and over, 160-242.
