Bobbie D. Palmer

Bobbie D. Palmer, 73, of Parsons passed away the morning of Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bobbie Dean Palmer was born on March 23, 1951, to Claude and Virginia P. (Cornog) Hall in Wichita.

For 33 years, Bobbie worked for the railroad. He started with the Katy Railroad in 1970, advanced to being a switchman for the Union Pacific, and retired as a yardmaster for the U.P. in 2003.

He dearly loved his family and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. A talented woodworker, he made benches for many of his loved ones. He loved caring for animals, including strays. One of his favorite things was cars, especially his 1955 Chevy. He enjoyed weightlifting and watching football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.

On Aug. 15, 1970, Bobbie married Diane S. Bush in Parsons. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Robert D. Palmer and his wife, Gina, of Parsons; a daughter, Jaime R. Pemberton and her husband, Ryan, of Parsons; four grandchildren, Brett Palmer, Kylea Palmer, Ali Ridgeway and her husband, Trent, and Kaitlyn Pemberton; three great-grandchildren, Braxton Palmer, Gabriel Ridgeway and Layla Ridgeway; a brother, Claude “Jr.” Hall and his wife, Sue, of Scammon; and a sister, Linda Shufelt of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Following cremation, the family will have a private graveside service at McCune Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS). These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS, 67357.
