Marjorie Louise Adams, 88, of Parsons passed away peacefully at 3:20 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025.
(Marjorie) Louise Murray was born on Oct. 9, 1936, to Elmer Emery and Gladys Adlee (Hugo) Murray in Parsons. She grew up in rural Parsons just north of Altamont attending Hyatt Country Elementary School and graduated from Labette County Community High School of Altamont in 1954.
After high school, Louise worked for the USDA office (now ASCS) in Altamont and Keele Appliance in Parsons. Louise married the love of her life, Ronald Leroy Adams, on July 17, 1955, at the First Assembly of God Church in Parsons by the Rev. Saunders and they made their home in rural Parsons. They were both long-time members of the church. After her marriage, she worked for the Realty Inc. abstract office in Parsons, the First Assembly of God Church as office secretary, operated a day care in her home for children of family and friends, and worked as custodian along with her husband at Herrman Lumber Co., First Assembly of God Church and the Richard Tucker Law Office, all for many years. Later Ronald and Louise operated the Eastlinks miniature golf course and batting cages for their kids, Darren and Pam, who owned it.
Louise enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling on bus trips with Labette Bank, going to community concerts, and spending time with her family. She also loved her flowers, vegetable garden and participating in the ladies church groups and the Prairie Valley Mothers Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Margie D. Hentzen and her husband, Brad, of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Pamela R. Blackburn and her husband, Darren, of Parsons; a grandson, Brandon Hentzen and his wife, Jami, of Skiatook, Oklahoma; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Braden and Braeli, all of Oklahoma; a sister, Irene Hubbell and her husband, Melvin, of Winfi eld; several cousins, nieces, nephews and brothers and sistersin- law. She also had two honorary daughters, Mary Kirk and Carol Simpson of Parsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, of nearly 53 years in 2008; her parents; and an infant brother, Lee Murray.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home.
