Below are the events for next week at the Parsons Public Library.
MONDAY: 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 4 p.m., children’s craft for ages 2 to 10.
TUESDAY: 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18.
THURSDAY: 1 p.m., coloring group for adults and teens; 4 p.m., Minecraft Club for teens.
FRIDAY, Jan. 31: 4 p.m., Switch freeplay for teens.
Rotary chili feed is Feb. 8
The Parsons Rotary Club will have its annual chili feed fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Parsons Municipal Building basement. Patrons are welcome to dine in or carry out meals. The club is also accepting pre-orders for those planning a Super Bowl party. Email [email protected].
Coin appraisal rescheduled
The Parsons Coin Club has rescheduled the January public appraisal event to Friday, Feb. 14, at Labette Bank, 2121 Main St. Members of the local hobby club will offer coin appraisals to the public beginning at 3 p.m. and continuing until 4:30 p.m. They will assist in identifying and evaluating their accumulations of old coins, currency and related items. This is a make-up date due to the snow earlier this month.
The club canceled the Jan. 10 appraisal because of the winter storm. “We try to offer this opportunity free of charge a few times a year as an outreach service for the club. We are grateful to Labette Bank for hosting us in such a nice venue,” said Dave Sorrick, long-time member of the local club.
The Parsons Coin Club meets on the third Thursday evening of each month at the Parsons Senior Center, 1800 Belmont. Area coin collectors are invited to attend. For more information, drop by the event at Labette Bank or contact Dave Sorrick at 620-423-6600.
Parsons Livestock Auction
On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 1,100 cattle.
Choice cows 137-146.50, canners-cutters 127-137, shelly cows 126 and down, bred cows up to $2,475; choice bulls 160179, lower grades 159 and down.
Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 275-435; 400-500, 260-379; 500-600, 260-374; 600-700, 220-314; 700-800, 245-282; 800 and over, 190-245.
Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 290-377; 400-500, 260-359; 500-600, 240-345; 600-700, 228-274.50; 700-800, 215-261; 800 and over, 155-208.
