OTES Valeda reunion

The Valeda community reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Valeda United Methodist Church. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the potluck will be served at noon. Please note the time change from previous years.

Drinks and tableware will be provided. Bring your favorite dish to share. A short business meeting will be followed by visiting and sharing memories with your neighbors and former neighbors.

Benefit breakfast

ST. PAUL — The Knights of Columbus, Council 760 – St. Paul-Walnut-Erie, is hosting a benefit breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at St. Francis Parish Hall at First and Lafayette in St. Paul. Breakfast will be sausage, eggs, hotcakes, biscuits and gravy and an opportunity for a friendly round-table visit. Cost is a free-will donation and proceeds will help with medical and travel expenses for a woman diagnosed with a rare cancer during her pregnancy.

Librarians attend training

Member libraries in the Southeast Kansas Library System attended the annual board meeting Sept. 6 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center SEK Impact Conference Center, 1500 W. Seventh St., Chanute. The board presented the 2025 budget and held the revenue neutral rate and budget hearings prior to the board meeting. The Southeast Kansas Library System is one of seven regional library systems tasked with providing consulting, grant funding and services.

Lake board to meet

The Lake Parsons Advisory Board will meet at 5 p.m. today at the Parsons Arboretum.

Planners to meet

The Parsons Planning Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the city commission room of Parsons Municipal Building.
