Laura K. ‘Lorie’ Nutter

Laura K. “Lorie” Nutter, 63, of Parsons died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons. She had been in failing health several years following a brain aneurysm in 2019.

She was born March 21, 1961, at Chanute to Kenneth R. and Jeleen (Cox) Schoenhofer. She grew up in Parsons and attended St. Patrick Catholic School and Meadow View Grade School. She graduated from Labette County High School in 1979 and from the cosmetology school at Pittsburg State University.

Lorie married William “Bill” R. Nutter on Aug. 11, 1984, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons.

Her first employment was at the Spanish Castle Beauty Shop, and for 35 years she worked at the Hair Productions Shop with Vickie and Doug Rike.

Lorie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She loved flowers, gardening, camping and the activities of her children and grandchildren. She loved being a grandmother.

Survivors are her husband, Bill Nutter; a son, Bryson R. Nutter (Stacie) of Parsons; a daughter, Lauren Van Allen (Jake) of Clearwater; grandchildren, Braylea Nutter, Kinsley Nutter, Bentley Nutter, Adley Van Allen and Lanie Van Allen; her mother, Jeleen Schoenhofer of Parsons; and three brothers, Kenneth Leon Schoenhofer, James Schoenhofer (Nancy) and Ty Schoenhofer (Melissa), all of Parsons.

She was preceded in death by her father; and infant twin grandchildren.

A memorial service was Thursday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Randy Beeman officiating. A private burial will be later at Spring Hill Cemetery.
