Representatives from the Southeast Kansas Library System (SEKLS) participated in the Kansas Library Association’s Library Legislative Day at the state capitol in Topeka on Jan. 28.
While there, they attended an address by Rep. Adam Smith and met with available legislators who represent SEKLS’ service area, including Rep. Bradley Barrett, Rep. Doug Blex, Rep. Ron Bryce, Sen. Michael Fagg, Rep. Fred Gardner, Rep. Dan Goddard, Rep. Rick James, Sen. Virgil Peck, Sen. Tim Shallenburger, Rep. Chuck Smith and Sen. Caryn Tyson. In these meetings, SEKLS advocated for continued support of Kansas libraries and shared documents including community impact stories written by member libraries and the 2025 System Plan, which is available for review at sekls.org.
The Southeast Kansas Library System is one of seven regional systems established by statute in 1965 to support and improve library service throughout the state.
