MCCUNE — Wendy Sue Markley, 53, of McCune died 8:39 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at her home following an illness.
Wendy was born April 18, 1971, in Parsons, the daughter of Bobby Dean and Carla Ann (Albertson) Markley. Wendy was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Southeast High School in 1989.
On Aug. 30, 2014, Wendy married Ron Gene Hignite in Eureka Springs, Arkansas; he survives at the home. Wendy worked for many years at Hickory Hole in Parsons as a waitress. Wendy was of the Christian faith; she was a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles and the Boat Club of Riverton. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking, home style cooking and was known as a great flute player. Wendy was baptized in September by Pastor Aaron Williams. Wendy was always eager to help those in need, especially the people she cared for most. Wendy was always one who gave more than she received. You never had to worry about an empty stomach if Wendy was around as she was happy to provide home-cooked meals. Wendy had a smile and a laugh that would brighten the day.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Victoria Doleshal and her husband, Aaron, of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Robin Ann Chartier and her husband, Dennis, of McCune and Stacy Marie Gray and her husband, Tony, of Nixa, Missouri; nieces, Hailey Moss and Laney Gray; nephew, Alex Gray; and two grandchildren she dearly loved, Ryan and Tate Doleshal.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father Bobby Dean Markley; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
The service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Williams officiating. Burial followed at the Star Cemetery in West Mineral.
