Parsons breezes in home tourney

Hosting another girls tennis tournament, the Parsons Vikings took down Labette County and Coffeyville on Thursday.

Parsons notched seven wins to take first place, while Labette County was second with five. Coffeyville didn’t notch a victory.

At No. 1 singles, Parsons’ Heidi Shultz went 2-0 with wins over Amelia Carnahan of Labette County and Sarah Turner of Coffeyville.

Labette County’s Carnahan beat Turner. Laila Haviland was 2-0 at No. 2 singles for Parsons, beating Labette County’s Hannah Benson and Coffeyville’s Julia Sotorzano.

Benson also beat Coffeyville. Manaye Ryan and Kadence Ball, teaming up at No. 1 doubles for Parsons, went 2-0 with victories over Madison Bevans and Bethany Merrick of Labette County as well as Charli Gath and Afifa Purnata of Coffeyville.

Bevans and Merrick also beat Coffeyville. Labette County’s Sierra Hill and Lucy Pearson took first place at No. 2 doubles, beating Parsons’ Bailey Siu and Lexi Jones as well as Coffeyville’s Lizzie Cook and Danica Davis.
