Marilyn A. Folk

SOUTH COFFEYVILLE, Okla. — Marilyn A. Folk, 88, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, surrounded by family at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1936, to Hubert D. and Margaret V. (Reust) Baker in Topeka. The Baker family relocated to Coffeyville, where Marilyn attended Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College. Marilyn had a passion for roller skating in high school and subsequently won the National Speed Skating Championship.

On June 11, 1957, Marilyn married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Folk. Together, they made a home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, where they raised five beautiful children. For 55 years, Marilyn and Bob owned and operated the Southern Supper Club in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, where they provided superb service and high-quality dining experience.

Marilyn was introduced to Holy Name Catholic Church in her early 20s by her dear friend, Helen White Caresio. Her faith quickly became the cornerstone of her life, and she devoted herself to sharing it with others. A hardworking, loving and selfless woman, Marilyn found her greatest joy in being with her family. She was blessed with many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren but to countless loved ones, she was “Mema.”

Later in life, Marilyn married Bill G. Lowe, and they made their home in rural Wann, Oklahoma.

Surviving to cherish her legacy are her children, Debbie Allen and her husband, Jupe, of Edna, Jules Folk of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and Jim Folk of Lenapah, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Jordann Madewell and husband Martin of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Brooke Callahan and husband Jake of Lenapah, Oklahoma, Katie Greer and husband Stevie of Edna, Kelli Allen of Edna, Jake Folk and significant other Katelyn of Wann, Oklahoma, Maggie Johnson and wife Paige of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jessica Graves and husband Billy of Lenapah, Oklahoma, Savanna Johnson and fiancé Andrew of Coffeyville and Blake Folk of Lenapah, Oklahoma; her great-grandchildren, Hurli Callahan, Stockton Scott, Saylor Madewell, Paityn Callahan, Parker Allen, Easton Graves, Blakeli Callahan, Spencer Madewell, Sawyer Madewell, Ty Callahan, Everly Graves, Ellison Graves, Bowen Folk and Preslee Greer; her siblings, Steve Baker and wife Debbie of Frisco, Texas, and Kathy Clark and husband Merle of Pittsburg; her nieces, Jennifer Williams and husband Jeff of Hays, Kimberly Hunt and husband Hank of Frisco, Texas; and her nephews, Phil Baker and wife Becky of Frisco, Texas, Jason Clark of Lawrence.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Margaret Baker; husband, Robert (Bob) Folk; daughters, Brenda Sue Folk and Angie Folk; and companion, Bill Lowe.

Friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. A rosary vigil service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. James Schibi officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Coffeyville.

The family suggests memorials to the Holy Name Catholic Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed to David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS, 67337.
