JOPLIN — The Oswego USD 504 archery team performed well at the tournament at Joplin High School on Saturday.
The top four shooters in each division won medals and the top three teams won trophies.
Medalists were: Elizabeth Dalton, first place, 3D and bullseye (her score of 258 moves her into 34th place in the U.S. for elementary girls out of 2,043); Odalys Santana, second place, 3D and bullseye; Axel Santana, fourth place 3D; Chloe Rhodenbaugh, fourth place 3D (Chloe shot the only perfect round of 50 during her 3D competition); Oakley Gatton, fourth place bullseye; J.R. Martin, second place bullseye; Michael Varner, fourth place bullseye; Brooklyn Hazell, third place bullseye; Emma Barnett, fourth place bullseye.
Coach Neal Cruse said the teams had 22 archers shoot their best scores this year: Odalys Santana 3D, Elizabeth Dalton 3D, Chloe Rhodenbaugh 3D, Amelia Owens 3D, Kobe Hazell 3D, Brody Braun 3D and BE, Corey Shepard 3D and BE, Oakley Gatton BE, Bryson Royer BE, Jackson Gilley BE, Allison Becker BE, Raylan Gilliland BE, Brayleigh Blake BE, J.R. Martin BE, Emma Barnett BE, Maicee Wimp BE, Orrin Fuller BE, Samuel Byrd BE, Jaxson Blair BE, Wendell Palma BE and Ella Shouse BE.
On Saturday, the middle school team finished second with 1,591 points. This score ranks the middle school 3D team at 72nd in the United States out of 467 teams.
Bullseye
The elementary team shot 2,648, which was good for second place and the team’s best score of the year. That score moves the USD 504 elementary team into 220th place out of 664 teams in the United States.
The middle school team scored 3,204 to earn first place. This was the best team score this year and the best middle school team score ever, Cruse said. That score moves the middle school team into 93rd place in the United States out of 1,023 schools.
