
Barbara Jean Robbins, 78, long-time Parsons resident, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, at her home. She had been in failing health.
She was born Jan. 20, 1947, at Neodesha, a daughter of Glen Raymond and Dolores Icle (Olenhouse) Crabb. She was raised on a farm between Fredonia and Neodesha and attended a country school while growing up. She then attended and graduated from Neodesha High School with the Class of 1965 and then attended the Wichita Business School for one year. She later moved to Parsons and was employed at the Elmhaven West nursing home. She operated a day care for many years and worked as a custodian at the First Christian Church for more than 20 years.
On Nov. 26, 1971, she married Larry Newton Robbins. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2009.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. In past years, she was active in the La Leche League (a support group for expecting and breastfeeding mothers) and was an active volunteer with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years. She enjoyed knitting and other crafts.
Survivors include two sons, Chris Robbins, Parsons, and Tim Robbins and his wife, Jessica, Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Joseph and Emma Robbins, Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Gary Crabb, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and a sister, Beverly Lawrence.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Crabb.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jennifer Dawson officiating.
