Jennifer L. Bennett

Jennifer L. Bennett, 52, of Parsons passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at her home in Parsons.

She was born on April 17, 1972, in Lawrence to Charles R. “Chuck” Spellman and Carol Ann “Kelly” (Wheeler) Perry. Jennifer grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1990. She graduated from Pittsburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Jennifer worked in community corrections in Chanute until 2001. She then went to work for court services in Parsons, where she was currently employed.

She enjoyed reading, arts and crafts, family game nights and spending time outdoors. She cherished her children and grandchildren.

She married Jason Bennett. They later divorced.

Jennifer is survived by her son, Seth Bennett and Kaycee Gowens of Parsons; her daughter, Hayden Bennett of Pittsburg; her grandchildren, Jaxon Bennett and Kamryn Brown; her stepmother, Pam Cress of the Big Hill Lake area; her sister, Stacy Braman and her husband, Wes, of Joplin; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kelly Perry; her father, Chuck Spellman; and her brother, Matt Spellman.

A celebration of life will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at the Wall Family Center. The family suggests memorials to an educational fund for her grandchildren, and these may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357.
