
PITTSBURG — Allen Garner, 84, of Pittsburg passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Allen was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who found true joy in the simple moments spent with his loved ones. He lived a life filled with laughter, love and countless precious memories.
He was born on Nov. 9, 1940, in York, Nebraska, to Willey and Esther Belle (Howarth) Garner. Allen was the youngest of seven children.
He graduated from Noel High School with the Class of 1959. Immediately after high school, Allen joined the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He completed 27 combat jumps.
He was of the Methodist faith and a lifetime member of the Kansas Society of CPAs. He spent over 50 years working as a CPA and was respected for his hard work, dedication and expertise.
On June 1, 1968, Allen married Judith Ann Marrone at St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin. They celebrated 56 years of marriage. Allen was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was a man of integrity, always putting his family’s needs above his own.
Allen had a love for Pittsburg State football, University of Kansas basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events, especially their 4-H events as he also had a love for animals. He was known for his witty humor, his kind heart and his willingness to help others.
Allen is survived by his wife, Judith Garner, of the home; his daughter, Dr. Mindi Garner (Kevan Schupbach) of Farlington; two grandchildren, Marrone and Milan Schupbach; his bonus grandchildren, Dr. Sierra Schupbach of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and 1st Lt. Skyler Schupbach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Lance D. Garner, who passed away on Oct. 3, 1990; four brothers; and two sisters.
Allen will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace. The service was Thursday, Feb. 27, at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery.
