Altamont seniors
ALTAMONT — The Altamont senior citizens will have their monthly fellowship lunch At noon on Thursday. The menu will consist of grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup and vegetable soup, along with fruit salad, coffee, tea and water. Those 55 years of age and older, may join the seniors for good food and fellowship.
At 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, Parsons Presbyterian Manor and Gentiva Hospice will treat seniors to breakfast and bingo. Cinnamon rolls, breakfast casserole, coffee and juice will be provided with bingo to follow.
Band at the VFW
The Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Parsons, will host Nashville recording artist Brian Odel on Saturday. The kitchen will be serving a choice of one meat and two sides for a $15 donation starting at 6 p.m. Serving continues until the food runs out. Meat options are barbecued chicken, brisket or smoked sausage. Side choices are smoked macaroni and cheese, barbecued beans or coleslaw.
The Brian Odel band takes the stage at 8 p.m. The VFW is charging a $10 cover for the band. You do not have to be a member of the VFW to attend.

MONDAY: 4 p.m., LEGO Club for ages 15 and under; 6 p.m., bingo for all ages.
TUESDAY: 10 a.m., sensory hour for ages birth to 3; 4 p.m., Anime Club for ages 10 to 18.
WEDNESDAY: 10 a.m., story hour for ages 2 to 6; 4 p.m., story hour at the splash pad for ages 2 to 6.
THURSDAY: 1 p.m., coloring group for adults and teens; 4 p.m., Dungeons and Dragons for teens.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 27:4 p.m., Switch free play for teens.
Livestock Auction
On Wednesday, the Parsons Livestock Auction sold 1,100 cattle.
Choice cows 128-138.50, canners-cutters 118-128, shelly cows 117 and down, bred cows up to $2,225, pairs up to $2,900; choice bulls 170-199, lower grades 169 and down.
Steers: Up to 400 pounds, 290-366; 400-500, 240-297; 500-600, 230-295; 600-700, 215-268; 700-800, 182-260; 800 and over, 210-236.50.
Heifers: Up to 400 pounds, 235-307; 400-500, 230-271; 500-600, 200-259; 600-700, 200-255; 700-800, 178-242.50; 800 and over, 170-222.75.
Valeda reunion
The Valeda community reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Valeda United Methodist Church. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the potluck will be served at noon. Please note the time change from previous years.
Drinks and tableware will be provided. Bring your favorite dish to share. A short business meeting will be followed by visiting with your neighbors and former neighbors.
