Raymond D. Sharp, 69, a lifelong Parsons resident, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2024, at his apartment at Belmont Towers.
He was born Sept. 19, 1954, at Parsons, a son of Raymond Joseph and Shirley Jean (Carrell) Sharp. He was raised at Parsons and attended school here. He served in the United States Army from 1973 until 1977 and was stationed in Germany. He returned to Parsons after he was discharged. He was employed as a rotary pressman for 35 years at The Flesh Co.
He married Roberta N. Lockwood on May 21, 1997, at Parsons.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church at Parsons. He was also a member of the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles. His hobbies included bowling, golf, motorcycles and softball.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Sharp of Parsons; a son, David Sharp of Parsons; two grandchildren; three brothers, Bill and Claudine Sharp of Reno, Texas, Darrell and Carol Sharp of Parsons and Drew Sharp of Arizona; and two nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sabrina Smith; a sister, Linda Sharp; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, or to the Proud Animal Lover’s Shelter. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 942 Parsons, KS, 67357.
