LCC hosts 35th high school art competition

abette Community College will host the 35th High School Art Competition and Exhibition on Thursday, April 3. The exhibition will display the artwork of over 150 students from 11 area high schools. The event is sponsored by the LCC Fine Art and Graphic Design departments.

Graphic design instructor Melissa Kipp emphasizes the importance of nurturing young artistic talent by providing meaningful opportunities for students to express themselves and gain recognition for their work.

“Every year, I’m blown away by the originality and skill these students bring to the competition,” Kipp said. “It’s a true privilege to help create a space where their creativity is not only encouraged but celebrated.”

The public is invited to view the artwork from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by the judges’ critique and awards ceremony at noon inside LCC’s Zetmeir Family Athletic Complex.

Awards will be presented to the top artists in the following categories: Painting, Drawing, Digital Art, Mixed Media, 3D, Photography, Misc Art and Best of Show.
