Grizzlies surrender nine runs in seventh

ALTAMONT — Falling to 0-2 on the baseball season, the Labette County Grizzlies fell to the Coffeyville Golden Tornado, 15-8, on Thursday.

Labette County led, 3-0, through three innings before Coffeyville reclaimed the lead. Trailing 8-6 in the final frame, Coffeyville plated nine runs en route to the comeback win. The Grizzlies committed seven errors in the loss.

Kaden Blackledge, Colton Ghering and Mason Morris each had two hits for the Grizzlies.

Six arms made appearances on the hill for Labette County — Kegan Bates allowed one run and no hits over four innings in the start. Keagan Nash, Gavin Mahan, Morris, Cooper and Ghering each appeared in relief. The five relievers combined to allow five earned runs and walked 10 batters.

Labette County travels to Baxter Springs on Tuesday.
