Betty Louise (Wells) Hill

MOUND VALLEY — Betty Louise (Wells) Hill passed away on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024.

Betty was born Aug. 5, 1940, in Okesa, Oklahoma, to Susie and John Wells. Betty was a loving, kind and fun-spirited woman known for her warmth and her silly sense of humor.

As a child, she grew up in Mound Valley and loved playing girls basketball. Betty remained an avid fan of Oklahoma University women’s basketball throughout life. Betty enjoyed rooting for the Sooners, crafting, painting, gardening and working out at the YMCA with her friends. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, being silly and creating joyful, funny memories.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Hill; her son, Christian (Vicki) Hill; her beloved grandsons, Ryan Kelley and Tyler Hill; a great-granddaughter, Soffie; her sister, Bertha (Darrell) Childress; nieces, Susan, Sandy, Janice, Julie Wells; and nephew, Steve and their families.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Wells; father, John Wells; brother, Charles Wells; sister-in-law, Patty Wells; nephew, Tony Wells; and ex-husband, Gary Hill.

Her favorite job was being a telephone operator in Mound Valley, and later in life she loved working in the human resources department with the rednecks in the oil field at Nabors Drilling.

Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful and caring mother, sister, friend, aunt Hill and grandma whose kindness and fun-loving nature touched the lives of many. Betty would be honored if you would plant a flower in her name.

The service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church, 415 Walnut St., Mound Valley.
