ALTAMONT — Jacalyn S. “Jackie” Martinie, 72, of Altamont passed away at 9:11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Jacalyn Sue Burke was born on Jan. 10, 1952, to Patrick and Shirley (Clogston) Burke in Eureka. Following high school and attending community college, Jackie married Phillip E. Martinie on Oct. 29, 1972, in Severy.
She spent her life making a warm, loving and comfortable home for her family. Her family was at the center of Jackie’s life and she especially enjoyed cooking for them. An animal lover, she cared for many cats and dogs over the years.
She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church of Altamont.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Phillip Martinie, of the home; three sons, Mike Martinie and his wife, Sandra, of McCune, Brandon Martinie and his wife, Sarah, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Arden Martinie and his wife, Jennifer, of Independence; nine grandchildren, Adam Martinie and his wife, Courtney, Alaina Martinie, Matthew Martinie, Brandon Cascio, Isabelle Martinie, Aiden Martinie, Audra Martinie, Izabella Wahl and Kobie Wahl; her mother, Shirley Marshall of Wamego; and two sisters, Kristy Bever and her husband, Chuck, of Wamego and Shelley LeValley and her husband, Mike, of Manhattan.
She was preceded in death by her father.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Altamont. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
