Kylie Coble has accomplished what few students dare to attempt, earning two nursing degrees from two institutions in a single weekend.
She will graduate with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Labette Community College on May 16 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kan- sas on May 17.

Coble’s academic journey is a testament to her dedication, time management and passion for health care. She began her nursing studies at LCC, where she built a strong clinical and academic foundation. At the same time, she enrolled in the KU Community College Nursing Partnership, which allows students to be dually enrolled in a community college associate degree nursing program and the KU School of Nursing BSN program.
“It wasn’t always easy, but I knew what I wanted,” said Coble. “I’m so thankful for the support from both Labette Community College and KU. The programs have challenged me in the best ways, and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished.”
LCC faculty and staff are celebrating Coble’s achievement for her personal milestone and for what it says about the strength of LCC’s nursing program.
“LCC nursing is proud of Kylie for this incredible accomplishment and testament of her hard work, dedication and perseverance.” said Dee Bohnenblust, LCC nursing director.
“Kylie is a shining example of what’s possible when determination meets opportunity,” said Sherry Simpson, nursing program specialist. “Our program is designed to give students a strong start in the nursing field, and Kylie took that foundation and ran with it. We are incredibly proud of her.”
The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing at LCC continues to provide high-quality, affordable education with hands-on clinical experience and small class sizes that allow for personal mentorship. Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEXRN exam and are prepared for advanced nursing degrees and careers in health care.
LCC will celebrate nursing graduates at the pinning ceremony on May 15 followed by the college-wide commencement on May 16.
