A rough start to the baseball campaign continued for the Parsons Vikings on Tuesday as they were blanked by the Fort Scott Tigers, 14-0, in SEK League play.
Parsons was limited to two hits while committing five errors in the loss.
Tuesday’s tilt remained tight through four frames with the Tigers nursing a 1-0 lead. But Fort Scott plated seven runs in the fifth then six more in the sixth to earn the run-rule victory.
In total, the Tigers tallied 10 hits with Dub Chipman, Kanin Brown and Ty Marbery each notching two.
Andrew Houk and Jakarre Green each notched one hit for the Vikings.
Houk ate the loss on the hill for Parsons, tossing 4.1 frames with five hits and two earned runs allowed. Houk struck out a pair of batters.
Mason Dillon and Xander Gabbert combined for 1.2 innings of relief work for Parsons.
For Fort Scott, Brady Messer earned the winning decision, throwing five innings while allowing one hit and striking out five batters.
Parsons has struggled offensively through six games, where Parsons sports a 1-5 record. The Vikings have scored five runs this season while their lone win was a 2-1 victory on April 10 against Caney Valley.
