Judith E. ‘Judy’ Brown

MCCUNE — Judith E. “Judy” Brown, 82, of McCune passed away the morning of Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her son’s home in Parsons.

Judith Eileen Rehmert was born on Feb. 19, 1943, to Verle William and Edith May (Bennett) Rehmert in rural McCune. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Thayer.

After owning a cleaning business for a time in Springfield, Missouri, Judy decided to stay home and raise her family. A talented homemaker, she enjoyed making a warm, comfortable home for her family. An excellent cook, even Judy’s meatloaf was famous. She sewed everything from quilts to doll clothes and crocheted many other creations. Playing board games and doing puzzles were also favorite pastimes. Family and friends were the most important things to her as demonstrated by her daily breakfasts with her dear friends, Zelda and Evelyn, and her sister, Phyllis, and the loving relationships with her children and grandchildren.

On Nov. 30, 1974, Judy married Gary Eugene Brown at the Nazarene Church in McCune. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Charlie Brown and his fiancé, Melissa, of Parsons and Justin Brown and his wife, Kaycie, of Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, Cam Brown, Ava Brown, Hunter Lyden, Harlie McClintock, Haygun McClintock, Hadlyn McClintock and Grant Rankins and his wife, Lluvia; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Stevens of McCune; and four half siblings, Verlene Kiesow, Margaret Lang, David Rehmert and Verle Rehmert, all of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gary Beeney; and three sisters, Pat Trickler, Verla Mireles and Letha Ketcherside.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Burial will follow at the McCune Cemetery in McCune. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS, 67357.
