Harold R. Pilkington

ST. PAUL β€” Harold R. Pilkington, 85, of St. Paul, formerly of Bothell, Washington, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village at St. Paul.

He was born Oct. 2, 1939, at Mound Valley, a son of Carris Ray and Ethel Pauline (Nichols) Pilkington. He was raised at Mound Valley and attended school there, graduating from the Mound Valley High School in 1956. He attended Parsons Junior College from 1957 until 1959 and attended Pittsburg State University from 1960 to 1961. He then moved to Seattle, Washington, to be near three uncles and attended Western Washington University, graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in history. He lived in Seattle for many years and later lived in Everett and Arlington, Washington, Fairfield, California, and Bothell, Washington, before moving to St. Paul on Jan. 8, 2023.

On Aug. 19, 1978, he married Peggy Hafercorn at the Everett Church of Christ in Everett, Washington. She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2021.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He also served as president of the Resident Council at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Donald β€œDon” and Donna Pilkington, Walnut; two nephews, Michael Pilkington and his wife, Teresa, of Oologah, Oklahoma, and Blake Pilkington of Pittsburg; three nieces, Dianne Hunter and her husband, Darrell, Norfolk, Virginia, Diane Willey and her husband, Jamie, of Parsons and Elaine Pilkington-Flatter of Miami, Oklahoma.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harley Pilkington.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village chapel at St. Paul with the Rev. Randy Beeman officiating. Inurnment will be in the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery at Snohomish, Washington. The family suggests memorials to the Prairie Mission Retirement Village and may be mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P.O. Box 272, St. Paul, KS, 66771.
