Labette Health this week honored Rosemary Steeves with the Becky Hunn Award. She is pictured with Kathi McKinney (left) and Dr. Eric Hunn. Steeves earned her nursing degree in 1978 and shortly after joined Labette County Medical Center. She fulfilled many roles throughout her career which began on the medical floor, followed by assisting with deliveries in OB for three years and her in the surgery department for over 32 years. She retired in September 2022 after a 45-year career. Susan Souders received the Our Healthcare Hero award. She began working at the hospital in 1970 as a candy striper. She earned a nursing degree and began working as a nurse in 1983 at Oswego City Hospital. She joined LCMC in 1984. She worked in ICU and the Emergency Room and became ER nurse manager. She later worked for the Labette County Health Department and the Cancer Center of Kansas. She returned to work during the pandemic to administer vaccines and performing other tasks.
