HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

With personal attention to our community The Parsons Police Department encourages safety and supervision during Halloween.

We want parents to follow a few safety rules for their children when they venture out for trick-or-treating.

1. If your children are old enough to go out on their own, give them a route to follow.

2. Take a flashlight

3. Be sure costumes, shoes, and treat bags are visible for drivers.

4. Remind kids not to enter strangers’ homes or cars

5. Set rules about not eating treats until kids arrive home.

6. Be sure to inspect all treats before allowing kids to eat them.

7. Candy that has been opened should be thrown away.

8. Any homemade treats or fruit should be inspected closely.

9. Remember drivers have a hard time seeing people, especially at dusk.

10. Walk on sidewalks whenever possible.

11. Never cross the street from between parked cars.
