Terry L. Ryburn, 73, of Parsons passed away at 1:28 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at Elmhaven in Parsons.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1950, at Parsons to Edward and Darlene (Good) Ryburn. He grew up in various places while his father served in the United States Navy. The family lived in Hawaii, California and Lenexa before moving back to Parsons. Terry attended Parsons schools and graduated from Parsons High School in 1968. He attended Parsons Junior College and Pittsburg State University. He also served in the United States Navy.
After his honorable discharge, Terry worked in construction, for the city of Parsons at the Tri-City Airport and for Parsons State Hospital and Training Center as a security guard. He retired in 2015.
Terry loved camping, riding dirt bikes, flying airplanes, fishing and canoeing. He was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Parsons.
He married Linda Dickerson on Aug. 30, 1973, at Parsons. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, Terry is survived by his son, Casey Ryburn of Parsons; his granddaughter, Breena Smith-Ryburn of Parsons; his brother, Rick Ryburn of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ron Ryburn.
A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Wall Family Center in Parsons. The family suggests memorials to the Antique Airplane Association, and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942 Parsons, KS, 67357.
