Beekeepers to meet Oct. 10
INDEPENDENCE — Cooking with honey will be presented by Nicole Small when Montgomery County Beekeepers Association meets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Independence Community College West, 2615 W. Main St., in Independence.
Honey has been used as a sweetener from the beginning of time before there were any other sweeteners available.
Honey contains essential vitamins, nutrients and minerals that help make honey a truly fortified food. There are guidelines for substituting honey for sugar in recipes that will be presented in this program.
Nicole will also include ways to use honey for holiday entertaining as part of a charcuterie board. Anyone interested in using honey for cooking and those seeking answers regarding beekeeping are invited to the program and to meet the beekeepers.
