CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
Moms Demand Action held its monthly meeting on Oct. 7 at the Cardinal Event Center, 13th and Main. Special guest was House District 1 candidate Janie Jarrett, who is a “gun sense candidate,” which means she has completed a screening process and is endorsed by Moms Demand Action’s state election team. She was impressive and well received by the group. Since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, in honor of that, Johnna Reed, a domestic violence victim advocate, led the group through a teen dating relationship simulation that she does in area high schools. It was eye opening and thought provoking. A calendar was distributed with upcoming events in November. Moms Demand Action is a grassroots, nonpartisan movement focused on public safety measures through advocacy and education to protect people from gun violence.
