Jenn Rader, director of the Southeast Kansas Nature Center at Schermerhorn Park south of Galena, will present the program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, for the Southeast Kansas Audubon Society. Rader will discuss the unique flora and fauna of the Ozark region of extreme Southeast Kansas. This meeting will take place at the Parsons Arboretum, 2004 Briggs Ave., at the corner of 21st and Briggs in Glenwood Park. The public is always invited and refreshments will be served following the program.

Special council meeting

ST. PAUL — The St. Paul City Council will meet in a special session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room at the fire station. He purpose of the meeting is to discuss non-elected personnel and interview candidates for city clerk.

Labette Assistance to close for a week

Labette Assistance Center, 2112 Belmont, will be closed for a week beginning Monday, Nov. 4. It will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

LAC will have limited appointment times this week and commodity distribution will be Wednesday.

Sunday country breakfast

BARTLETT — The Bartlett Community Church will host a Sunday country breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. This is the weekend that Daylight Savings Time changes so be sure to get your clocks set the night before.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet menu will feature homemade sausage gravy served with biscuits, hash browns, scrambled eggs, egg casseroles, ham, sausage, fresh fruit, breakfast sweets, donuts, homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, juice and milk. Donations will be accepted to support the ministry and mission work of the church. The public is invited to attend.

Carryout will be available for those who do not want to dine in. The church is located at 712 Main on the south side of Bartlett. In case of severe weather conditions, you can call 620-4231789 or 620-778-4635 to check for cancellation.

Turkey and noodle dinner

The Parsons Lions Club will host its annual turkey and noodle dinner on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Parsons Municipal Building basement. The cost is by donation and the meal includes homemade turkey and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and a drink. Desserts are available by donation. Serving runs from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
