Timothy Searles, a cherished husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at age 65.
Timothy Alan Searles was born on Sept. 6, 1959, in Parsons the son of William Searles and Josephine (Cunningham) Searles. Timothy lived a life rich in love and dedicated to family and community.
Tim attended and graduated from Independence Bible School in Independence. He found simple pleasures, whether tending to cattle, trail riding, or enjoying quality time with family, often filled with light-hearted banter as he would give his son, Cody, a bit of heck. He also enjoyed riding his sideby- side and his tractor.
When he was younger, Tim worked at Ashcraft Tire in Independence and also GCR in Topeka. He was working for Labette County as the supervisor of the rock quarry.
Timothy’s love for his family was evident in everything he did. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (VanCleave) Searles; his son, Cody Searles (Brandi Cook), of Edna; his grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life and in whom he took immense pride, Charlie and Olivia Searles; his brothers, David Searles (Sharon) of Cherryvale, Mark Searles of Coffeyville, Martin Searles of Buckeye, Arizona, William Searles in Tacoma, Washington; and a sister, Linda Spillman, (Jerry) of Chanute.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine (Cunningham) Searles and William Searles; and his brother, Richard Searles.
A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Wickham Family Funeral Home in Cherryvale. The service will provide an opportunity for friends and family to gather and honor Timothy’s memory, share stories and reflect on a remarkable life well-lived.
The family suggests memorials to Big Hill Back Country Horsemen and these may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 E. Fourth, Cherryvale, KS, 67335.
Timothy Searles will be remembered for his warm spirit, generous heart and an unwavering dedication to his family. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
