The Parsons Chess team participated in the Columbus tournament this past weekend. Lucas Fugate and Kyle Chen represented Parsons High School and both medaled. There were 47 participants in the K-12 Division. There was a five-way tie for first place. Five students finished the tournament with 5 of 6 wins. Due to the systematic tiebreaker procedure, Lucas earned the third place medal. Kyle had 4 wins and finished in 12th place. In the K-8 Division, Parsons Middle School had a three-man team. Medal winners were Gabriel Klonowski earning 17th place with 4 wins and Kellian Clevenger earning 19th place 3.5 wins. Newcomer Elijah Downey won 1.5 games at his first tournament.
